How To Get An Online Cruise Deal


Are you looking to take a cruise vacation? I live in Houston, TX and my family and I just took a 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) on the boat Norwegian Dream which left out of the port of Houston.

The Dream is a smaller and slightly older boat compared to some of the mega ships today, but it is a very comfortable and fun ship to be on. I have two small daughters, and they LOVED it, we actually took the same cruise 6 months earlier and it was soo easy, cheap and fun that we decided to do it again.

We left out of the Port Of Houston and stopped at Cozumel Mexico, Belize and Progresso Mexico...which is in the Gulf of Mexico and the water is not as pretty and warm as the other stops in the Caribbean, but it was fun and the kids liked it.

I highly recommend you get a passport, it just made life much easier and the Customs process was faster and less hassle than without one.

What to do on the cruise? The kids had a "kids crew" where they did all kinds of fun planned and supervised activities which allowed my wife and I some well needed "date nights".

On the cruise there are two small swimming pools, many NICE restaurants and bars, a casino, shops and computers and a library to check out books to read.

We booked our cruise via the NCL cruise website directly and we got a great deal on a last minute cruise. I also got some great quotes from a few online cruise sites, which I recommend you do....how else can you compare prices?

If you are considering a cruise, I highly recommend a Caribbean cruise...who doesn't like a white sandy beach vacation? And I would recommend the Norwegian Dream for people with kids or on a tight budget since it is the cheapest cruise ship in the fleet.

I checked out about 5 different cruise sites, and compared rate and even made a few phone calls before we settled on our Caribbean cruise vacation.

How can you get a discount?

Find a cruise deal online, then call the company offering the deal and ask them for any discounts that might be available but not mentioned online. We told them we had two small children and would prefer a cabin in the vicinity of other kids.

They said they had some "cheaper cabins" towards the back lower portion of the ship that would be kid friendly. Hey, you only stay inside your cabin a few hours for sleeping, the rest of your time you are enjoying your cruise on the sun decks or at the ports of call. it did save us money and the room was perfect!
